Project Description
COVID-19 as the world’s most dangerous threat” according to UNICEF (2020); the pandemic created unprecedented lock down in Uganda. Schools were closed and approximately 15 million learners were sent on an unparalleled program to learn from home. This increased community population and COVID 19 prevention strategies is not fully observed. The project is designed to contribute to the reduction COVID 19 infections in Uganda through personal protective gears support i.e masks, sanitizers, soap.
Challenge
Rural communities are underprivileged and continue to live at risk to COVID -19 infections in Uganda particularly in Kibuku and Budaka districts. They lack access to COVID 19 personal protective gears such sanitizers, masks, gloves, soap including correct information on the use yet the disease is escalating in the community. The current number of infected persons as at 22/7/2020 stands at 1050 and without tight prevention measures, it will escalate and the government will not afford the effects
Solution
Hand washing remains the No. 1 tip for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, Kagumu Development Organization will promote quality, sustainable and community health education in Eastern Uganda particularly in Kibuku and Budaka districts. The organization will continue to advocate for the prevention of COVID-19 by promoting the use of personal protective gears and provide homes, schools, trading centers and health facilities with sanitizers and personal protective gears.
Long-Term Impact
Kagumu Development Organization is protecting the lives of rural communities from this dangerous threat; there will be reduced death and increased production, saving and the economy of the country will gain. Hence, globally, we will recover from the outcomes of the threats of this virus.
